Wyoming Democratic Party Welcomes New Executive Director

Cheyenne – The Wyoming Democratic Party is proud to announce Scott Merrifield as its new Executive Director.

Scott Merrifield joins WDP from the Colorado Democratic Party, where he directed the House Majority Project, helping protect and expand Democratic control in the state legislature. A U.S. Army veteran and longtime organizer, Scott has built his career around one mission: strengthening Democratic teams and winning tough races.

“Scott brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to organize, build, and win,” said Wyoming Democratic Party Chair Lucas Fralick. “We’re thrilled to have him on board as we continue growing the Democratic Party in Wyoming.”

Scott has managed campaigns across Colorado, built partnerships with labor and advocacy groups, and led field and fundraising operations for candidates from the local level up to legislative leadership. A former county party chair himself, he understands the value of strong local organizing and the day-to-day realities of running a county party.

“I’m honored to join the Wyoming Democratic Party as Executive Director,” said Merrifield. “Our team has a lot of work ahead as we build toward 2026, and I’m excited to partner with our county parties, elected officials, candidates, and volunteers to grow our reach and strengthen our impact across Wyoming. As a veteran and longtime organizer, I know what it means to serve and to fight for something bigger than ourselves — and I believe together we can build a stronger, more connected Democratic Party that delivers for every community in Wyoming.”

Scott has already hit the ground running, meeting with staff and party leaders as the Wyoming Democratic Party prepares for a critical election year.
