WDP Chair Joe M Barbuto Statement on Barrasso’s Opposition to Border Security Legislation

Cheyenne– Wyoming Democratic Party Chair Joe M Barbuto has released the following statement regarding Senator John Barrasso’s opposition to border security legislation.

“Once again, John Barrasso is prioritizing politics over progress. For months, we’ve been subjected to a barrage of partisan rhetoric and inflammatory remarks from the senator in his attempt to pin the problems at our Southern border on Democrats and our President. Now, when others have stepped into leadership positions on this issue and presented potential bipartisan solutions, Senator Barrasso stands in opposition. Why? Because if passed, he’s concerned this bill will hurt his party’s chances in the 2024 election, and particularly the presidential race.

The fact is, John Barrasso is sacrificing border security not based on any principle, but in order to carry water for a disgraced former president who only a year ago referred to him as a ‘flunky’ and ‘rubber stamp.’ Folks, that’s pathetic.”
